Red Flanders Poppy Seeds

Red Flanders Poppy Seeds

Red Poppies were made famous during WWI in France where these poppies grow wild and cover fields and hillsides in the spring.  The Hillsides were in Flanders and thus the Red Flanders Poppy Seeds become a remembrance of those fearful battles.  Veterans wore and still wear the red poppy in their buttonholes. The Red Poppy is a symbol of something we never want to forget.

I have purchased your red flanders poppy seeds. Can you provide planting instructions. I live in Pennsylvania.

Sow the seed directly on bare soil and water well. Best results are when planted in late fall and winter rains keep seeds moist. I planted a large area in Mid-Feb and they bloomed in Mid-May (mixed poppies).

I have tried for years here in Wyo. – one out of a whole packet may come up. I have planted -red poppy plants and the voils ate them immediately. Shall I just forget flanders poppies or do you have a suggestion as I love them.
