These tulips below are tall and blooming late. There is another late parrot tulip, Blue Parrot, to add to this group but it was not planted this year.

As a very general rule, the taller the tulip, the later it blooms. Thus, Single Late tulips are the tallest and the Triumph tulips are shortest of those I sell.

Late-blooming tulips add vibrant color to the garden when many other flowers have finished. These tulips extend the flowering season, offering beauty from late spring into early summer. Several varieties of late tulips are particularly popular for their striking colors and large blooms.

Other Popular Season Extenders

Queen of Night is another favorite. Known for its deep, almost black petals, it brings a dramatic touch to any planting scheme. This late-blooming tulip pairs well with lighter-colored flowers, creating a striking contrast. Queen of Night blooms in May and thrives in full sun.

Maureen is a classic late-blooming white tulip. Its pure white petals and tall stems make it ideal for cutting gardens or mixed borders. It blooms late in the season, providing a fresh and clean look when most other flowers are fading.

Big Smile is a large, golden-yellow tulip that makes a bold statement. Its sturdy stems and vibrant color make it perfect for both garden beds and floral arrangements. Big Smile blooms late in the season, holding its color for weeks.

To grow these late-blooming tulips, plant them in well-drained soil in the fall. They thrive in full sun and benefit from a deep planting depth of 6-8 inches. Water them well and give them time to chill over the winter months. By May, these late tulips will reward you with an extended splash of color, making your garden come alive well into summer.
