Planting Creeping Thyme Seeds

by | Jul 28, 2019 | All Categories | 8 comments

Creeping thyme seeds are a fantastic choice for gardeners looking to establish a versatile and attractive ground cover. It is known for its dense, low-growing habit, Creeping thyme is a popular and adaptive dwarf ground cover that thrives in various landscape designs. Its hardiness and aesthetic appeal make it a favorite among gardeners and landscapers alike.

You can frequently use creeping thyme as a natural border around flower beds. This adds a soft, textured edge that contrasts beautifully with taller plants. It works equally well between pavers on walkways and patios, where its delicate foliage softens the harsh lines of stone and concrete. The aromatic leaves release a pleasant scent when brushed or stepped on, enhancing the sensory experience of outdoor spaces.

One of the best features of creeping thyme is its ability to handle moderate foot traffic. Unlike more delicate ground covers, creeping thyme bounces back after being walked on. It is perfect for pathways or areas where people frequently pass. This resilience, combined with its low maintenance needs, makes it a practical and beautiful choice for filling in gaps between pavers or using as a living carpet across large areas.

Creeping thyme produces tiny, colorful flowers in shades of pink, purple, or white, attracting bees and other beneficial pollinators. This hardy ground cover not only beautifies your garden but also supports local ecosystems. Thus making it a valuable addition to any outdoor space.

I received 2 packages of mixed morning glory vine seeds and I planted them in Michigan last week but I did not soak them overnight prior to planting. I only soaked them for an hour before I planted them.

Will the seeds grow into flowers still?

How long will it take to see some growth?

Will they come up every year?

They should bloom within a couple of weeks. They are not perennial but can self seed or you can collect the seed and replant next spring.

They will return from the new seeds. Soaking first just helps them germinate quickly.

Yes, they will still grow. Seeds will produce the new plants next year.

I bought some of your Scarlet Runner beans to add a colorful “tepee” next to my squash. Best seeds I ever planted— they came up in 2 weeks and after 6 weeks are winding up and in full bloom.
