Planting Creeping Thyme Seeds

by | Jul 28, 2019 | All Categories | 4 comments

Creeping Thyme Seeds – Creeping Thyme is a popular and adaptive dwarf ground cover that is popular for landscape designs. Use it often as borders on flower beds and in between pavers on walkways. This is a ground cover that can handle moderate foot traffic.

Creeping Thyme is a perennial herb which will over-winter well in zones 4-9.

Direct Sow seeds outdoors between May and August when temperatures are consistently in the high 60s or above. Divide established plantings in March and April. Fall plantings should be avoided to protect against freeze damage.

To plant the seeds, do not be cover with soil, but rather press into the soil. Good seed to soil contact is necessary for ideal germination rates.

I received 2 packages of mixed morning glory vine seeds and I planted them in Michigan last week but I did not soak them overnight prior to planting. I only soaked them for an hour before I planted them.

Will the seeds grow into flowers still?

How long will it take to see some growth?

Will they come up every year?

They should bloom within a couple of weeks. They are not perennial but can self seed or you can collect the seed and replant next spring.
