Peonies are still available – Ice Follies Daffodil Size Illustrated Below

by | Feb 5, 2012 | Peonies | 0 comments

This photograph of Ice Follies bulbs clearly shows their impressive size. Each bulb has four smaller bulbs attached at the base, and these are often referred to as “Mother Bulbs.” These bulbs are special because they produce at least four daffodil flowers each, which makes them far more productive than the typical bulbs found in most nurseries. Nurseries usually stock “double nose” #2 bulbs, which have two bulbs attached but are smaller and of second size.

To give you a better sense of scale, I placed these Ice Follies bulbs on an 11-inch platter. The size difference is striking when compared to regular daffodil bulbs. Some bulbs may have four attached, like the ones in the photo, while others might have three or two, but all are larger and more robust than typical nursery offerings.

When I prepared a shipment of 50 of these Ice Follies bulbs, I discovered that they weighed an impressive 12 pounds. This weight is a testament to their size and quality. The larger the bulb, the more blooms you’ll get, and the better the plant’s overall performance will be in your garden.

Different varieties of daffodils vary in size and bulb formation, but I always ensure that my bulbs are the largest available. Larger bulbs not only produce more flowers but also offer long-lasting durability, giving your garden a vibrant display year after year. These Mother Bulbs are difficult to find in nurseries because they are more expensive to ship due to their size and weight. However, their productivity and beauty make them well worth the investment.

If you’re looking for high-quality, long-lasting daffodils, these large Ice Follies bulbs are the perfect choice for a reliable and beautiful bloom.
