Santa Rosa Garden Club

by | Mar 18, 2013 | All Categories, Daffodils | 0 comments

The Santa Rosa Garden Club visited us on one of their perennial tours. We had a large turnout, with about seventeen members joining the walk. Another group stayed on the deck to relax while the rest began exploring the garden.

Julie Sooley took amazing photos and shared them in their newsletter. I captured a picture of the group standing along the steps on the white hillsides. Afterward, the others joined us to see the blooming peony beds and tulips.

About the Santa Rosa Garden Club

The Santa Rosa Garden Club started with a small group of gardening enthusiasts. Initially, they met in private homes. However, they soon decided to formalize their meetings and create an official club. On March 28, 1949, California Garden Clubs, Inc. accepted their application for membership, and the organization officially began with about 50 members.

Now, over 75 years later, the club meets regularly at the Luther Burbank Art and Garden Center (LBA&GC), where they’ve gathered since 1958. The club, along with other Art and Garden clubs, owns the property and grounds. A General Manager administers the center, and representatives from each owner club meet several times a year to discuss policies and maintenance. Part of the club’s dues supports the general fund, but rental fees from the public help cover the remaining costs.
